Anberlin
Anberlin is the that kind of band that really gets your heart pumping and your mouth moving to the catchy lyrics and pulse pounding beats and riffs . I first came upon these guys back in my Limewire days. A friend of mine let me borrow a DVD full of music videos and this was one of them:
From there I was curious to what other songs they had so I fired up my 12 yr old compaq and used my best friend at the time Limewire to download and push the limits of the machine. I could only download the most 3 at a time because 1. I was using dial-up and 2. it would freeze every time I exceeded the limit. As it was downloading I sampled one track, because of my lack of bandwidth the sample only gave me about like 2 seconds of this track. From that instant I knew I would love this music.
Fast forward a few years, 1 amazing live show, several late night T.V. appearances, and 4 albums later, Anberlin has matured with not only their sound but their song meanings as well. This band started changing right when I started changing. I am no longer that 18 year old boy that rocks out alone in his room to the point of exhaustion. I have found that they are just a bunch of guys (mostly Christians) that play good music.I find myself actually thinking of the song lyrics in stead of just saying them. Some people might say that when a band changes their sound they are selling out and are leaving the fans behind. I don't believe this is the case with Anberlin.
Even though their music has toned down a bit they still are that little indie band from Orlando that saved us from N*SYNC and The Backstreet Boys. This following vid is for a song that was originally released on their sophomore album and was re recorded in all of its mainstream label glory for their latest album.
As sit here wishing I was able to go to Orlando for Anberlins last tour date this year, but sadly I am unable because of time and money constraints. SO I leave you with this fellow readers: I will make an Anberlin video and post it right here for all to enjoy!!!!!
p.s. 190 days till the most joyous day of my life!!!

Star Wars in Song
The following video is funny, cool, very time consuming, and a great way to tell the Star Wars story so bask in all of the geeky Star Wars tributeness to John Williams.

I found interesting that a robot, that was created 33 years ago, would be compared to the best and most practical computers ever made. A sign of the times lol

I have to hand it to HIM

No really, God really comes through when you sit down and truly seek him as the center of your life. Just a bout a year ago on my birthday, I came to the realization that I needed to get my life in order. I was not a kid any more I had to grow up. So from there I began take charge and pray and think of Gods plan for the rest of my life. at that time I wasn't in school I had decided to take a break but deep down inside I knew I had to go back but I lost my scholarship and everything so it was too difficult. Not to mention I was torn between staying here or pursuing my dreams of going of going to Full Sail and making films (im thinking about being a cinematographer).
To fast forward a bit almost 22 engaged to Kristina M. Selecky preparing for our wedding then embarking on our jouney to central Florida to stat our lives together. WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW What a change!!! Im so glad to have found some so amazing. I remember growing up before a new school year would start I would say a prayer that would go some thing like this: "God, if its your plan please let me see the woman you have for me I don't want to miss her" and I didn't. I found her at a video shoot I was doing for the childrens ministry. From there we became friends and then Passion happened. Not only would I never forget the time we sat next to each other before the first day and how Amy got me to talk about those stars on the screen. It was a good way of making me talk to her cuz next thing I know I was in an all out conversation about our dreams and passions, But I will never forget the drive up when I sat next to her and we were playing word spell on her iphone and our hands grazed (for the first time) because she didn't move. I knew from there she was special.....
I have to say to the person out there that is reading this don't be down that life isn't really going your way stick it out stay true and remember that God has a story that He is writing Called Your Life that the He is willing to finish.
Here's a vid she gave me a the other day. I combines her favorite band (Relient K) and my favorite movies (uh I think you know the answer to that) here ya go:
I thought it was interesting how they compared the life story in the sing to that of Darth Vader, it really fit well and the whole rewind thing showing his deeds were erased was a good touch. but it could have been done without Jar Jar at then end.
I really don't know how to end this post other than saying I LOVE YOU BABE!!!!

As I Sit Here. . .
...I type in casual dress attire for my first and will be only cake testing for our wedding I Evan Garcia on May 15, 2009 will be marring the most wonderful woman in the world. She's the perfect match for me , Kristy Gar.... oh not yet Kristina Selecky aka. Kristy. But getting back to the present. Cake testing mmmmmm Who would have thought that wedding planning included such a tasty and delicious task. I cant wait till I indulge in all the luscious and decadent layers of the fluffy goodness and creamy frosting that cakes consist of.
Some thing tells me I have to tell you the real motivation behind this blog post.To tell you the truth I woke up today and said oh no I have assignment due tonight!!!. See, After a great class discussion about "covering" (Will explain later) on Tuesday my professor gave a writing assignment that consisted of just finding a topic to write about and just write doesn't matter if I get off topic just write. Its called Yarn writing as apposed to a conceit where your writing is more structured and focused. So I said this gives me a real good reason to just sit down on my Mac and blog. I didn't ask if I could do this because I thought of it on the way home from class that night. I hope he's fine with the medium that I have chosen in which to do my assignment.
Ok now back to the real topic. Oh hold up, I cant I must not stray from the task at hand. Which is pretty funny because I'm supposed to get off topic but I must control my self to stay on task which entails I not stay on task Uh!!! Just a little confusing I think. Well to change the subject (WOW, that was a real bad transition) to something much less important and exciting I will start giving my opinion on the computer animated Star Wars The Clone Wars Movie/T.V. Series. Back in June when Star Wars.com announced that to jump start the animated T.V. series they will combine the first four episodes and make a movie and release it in THEATERS!!! I was sooooo excited about it!!!. And August 15 has now come and passed I've seen it several times , so I believe I have some authority and can give a real good opinion about it. The first thing that I noticed about it was of course the animation style. Its like nothing ever put to screen. It took me forever to figure out where I have seen this look and finally on one of the producers blogs they said they were going for a Thunderbirds marinate puppet type of style. I said to my self HA!!That where I’ve seen it!!!! Remember that puppet show where they would fly in space and stuff it was pretty much startrek with puppets (noticed how i put startrek all in lower case hee heee). I remember as I child I was a bit creeped out by them I mean come one they had really big heads
with even bigger bulging eyes that w
ould never blink on a miniscule body. And this is where I start typing my way into obscurity after about an hours worth of typing. So cakes HERE I COME!!!!

Kids say the darnest things about Star Wars

Well, here I am on the third day of this terrible sickness with fever, body pains, throat swollen and this head and neck pain that makes me feel like they're gonna fall right off. It all started Monday morning I woke up and couldn't move. Long story short I ended up taking a FREEEEZZING COLD shower to bring down my temp. of 103 (Never want to do that again!!) I haven't been at work for 6 days missed Elevate (Not Cool) but the good thing is that it seems like I'm recovering. After A TON of sleep, watching episode 3 and Episode 4 back to back, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and Blue Harvest (The Star Wars Family Guy episode). I think I have stored enough strength to surf the internet and blog.

- i thought chewie came from the same planet as the ewoks, he was just a different version (like how there are housecats and lions sort of thing).
- (love this one)i didn't understand about the ep IV thing either, and when i asked my parents they told me that GL must have been on drugs or something because a lot of people did drugs during the time they were made, so for a long time i thought he just numbered them wrong because he was on drugs and forgot how to count, and i thought it was very sad.
- I thought that Vader grew back his head after getting it sliced off by Luke on Dagobah and pow he's alive on his super star destroyer talking to the bounty hunters
- I thought the Jawa's had a crush on Luke! There is that scene when Luke is walking over to the Jawa Sandcrawler to look at the line-up of droids. They show Luke walking, and the next scene is shows Jawas getting excited, screaming, and running away. It looks just like teenage girls watching a boy band. I still wonder about that one...
- thought the first Death Star run was a game, sort of like the Olympics. Some kind of contest. It was because of the medals at the end, with the award ceremony!
- "I thought stormtroopers were Vaders sons!!
Hes got alot of 'em!!! "
- (This one was popular) "Personally I always used to think that when Ben's sabre blade dissapeared in ANH i thout his battery had run out."
- like the guy that said "When I was a kid, before I saw the film I thought C3PO was a bad guy. He had glowing eyes you see." (LOL LOL)
- When I was a kid, I remember seeing R2-D2 and C-3P0 in a commercial telling about how you shouldn't smoke. I didn't realize at the time that they were in Star Wars, so years (and years) later when I first saw Star Wars, I was like "OMG, It's those robots from the smoking comercial!!!"(LOL Pricless)
- (This one happened to me too!!) When I finally saw all three Star Wars movies, all of the Star Wars references on the cartoon "Muppet Babies" suddenly made sense!
- Dark Vader--I called him that for the longest time, until I got into a fight with a kid at school over it(HAHAHA!!)
- I remember thinking that Princess Leia selfishly doomed Alderaan by looking out the window at the planet and confirming the location of the rebels in a German accent. "Dat one, they're on dat one." (Instead of Dantooine get it? LOL)
- during Star Wars, where Luke is watching the hologram of Princess Leia. In the scene he says, "Old Ben lives out beyound the Dune Sea. He's kind of a strange old hermit.." I mis-heard it was, "Old Ben loves out beyond the Dune Sea. He's kind of a strange old kermit." For a long time, I wondered if Kermit the Frog was a Jedi. I was a very odd child.(Yes, he was)
- Also, I thought that Obi-Wan disappearing was a censorship thing because they weren't allowed to show him getting chopped in half!(guess that could have been true)
- I first saw the movies when I was 3 or so, and I had a terrible problem with the accents and figures of speech. When you think that Ben felt that "millions of oysters suddenly cried out in terror," or that Darth instructed Piett to "prepare the bowling party," well, it becomes clear that there was something else of interest beyond the dialogue. (LOLOLOLOL)
- when I saw the word 'rebels' in the opening crawl (in 1977), I thought that the movie was going to be about the United States Civil War. (WOW)
- me and my childhood friends came to the horrifying conclusion that obi wan was alive and had escaped in the nude. just a naked old man running through the death star ::shivers:: (funny but bad thought came flushing into my head!!!)
I do admit not seeing the movies and reading this must have felt like stepping into some weird confessions meeting. But nonetheless those were hilarious!!! as for me my only misconception was thinking Boba Fet's name was really Boba Fleet (the name of some fleet of starships). How about you guys? Those of you that have seen the movies probably have some funny stories you can tell. feel free to comment.
Wow I'm really feeling better laughter really is the best medicine!

A taste of what is to come....

Mute Math is that type of band that you just cant sum up in one word or even listen to and think you have them all figured out. They are so eclectic, ambient, rhythmic, lyric heavy at times, very
meloudious, and they rock your FACE OFF!!! with their live show. When the song

umm... OK
Well its been over a month since my last post. Ive been pretty crazy busy and tired. To be honest ive had down time where I've spent on the computer but i just couldn't push myself to actually blog. oh and theres been stuff to blog about!:

- I now have a wonderful girl friend! I love spending time with her, my lil pelican lol

- I want to congratulate her parents, Maria and Bob Selecky on 29 years of marriage. and thank them for allowing Kristy and i to spend time with them at the Hotel on Sunday.

- I just found out that StarWars holograms are now real!!! don't believe me? watch this:
- I can't get these two songs out of my head!!!
- More congrats go out to Mauricio and Steph and Phill and his wonderful wife on their marriages.
- I'm so stinking excited that Elevate is growing!! I still remember the days where it was still resident62 and it was just 10 of us in the lobby. June 2 Bowling!!
- Got indy fixed (my jeep) but gunna have to sell it. Cant even tell you how bummed out i am :( Just too much of a hassle,it is LOL
- Excited that on the Grey's Anotomys season finale there were two Star Wars references!!! and a Jon Foreman song!!! and the references weren't like some small nod to the movies but it was more like one of the characters explained Han Solos complete journey from the cantina on tatooine to his marriage to Leah and the births of his twins. As for the Jon Foreman song, it s was one of my favorites: "Learning how to Die" it played over the turning point of the episode!! Its from his Winter EP, which is third in is solo effort.
- Im starving and all i have to eat right now are doritos
- I just remembered i haven't done my Wii Fit in 2 days!!
- Ive been working on my Anakin/ Star Wars video. I want to make a video to show Anakins fall to the dark side because i don't think it was really done well in the prequels and thats why most people don't like and understand episodes 1-3
- So far the summer movies have been off the charts AWESOME!!!! Except for Indy 4 (WHAT HAPPENED?!?!?!?) Looking forward to the hulk and The Dark Nightoh yeah and WALL E. I'll be post my reviews later.
- Can't wait for AUGUST 15!!
- Im crazy ready for the Demon Hunter show in orlando. They dont tour much so when they do they put on an insane show!!! Also thinking about going to star wars weekends. Any one up for it?
I did it. YAY!!! off to do laundry, help mom cook, and then spend some time with my lil pelican. Cant promise when the next post will be but it shouldn't be too long lol

My trip down Memory Lane via "The Paper"

Memories of my time spent there came rushing back like the release of the bulls from the gates in Spain. First of all I was amazed at how new the school still looked. I was a sophomore in the inaugural year and still remember the smell of the fresh paint that filled the air of the halls. Ahh the smells. For about a second they showed "The Stairs". Man that stairway stank!!!! there were so many times where i caught people smoking in there lol
Then realized that my senior year i had a graphics arts class in that very room with those exact macs. I sat back by the window i loved looking out and watching what went on in the library.and the teacher had two different colored eyes, one grey one blue, my cinematography teacher was deaf in one ear, Crazy go nuts!!! I never took year book though. The show , especially the b-roll, reminded me that that school has some really good lines. I remember getitng very similar shots to those on the show for the Friday Show.

Over all its a good show it captures the drama of high school and i can't shake that terrible feeling of: "I should say some thing" while some one is being made fun of behind their back that just crazy. I'll be watching
sorry for the huge brain fart lol (my definition that is)

My Decision

...Nope...
Yes, you read right. Despite all my aspirations of becoming the professional I dream to be, I choose to take reality head on and accept that God has a plan for me to stay and grow to become the man He wants me to be right where I am.
Here's my situation. I have no money, work at publix barely making any thing. and I have really messed up in school at FAU My GPA is a mess, and because of that I lost my scholarship. So before the trip up I asked Him to please give me sign of what to do. And sure enough, He pulled through!
When I sat down and talked to my councilor Carina(which by the way is the best!) I told her my situation and she said because that they are a University they now accept the Bright Future Scholarship. When I heard this I almost jumped out of my seat. This means if I bring up my GPA and along with some other Fin Aid stuff I would be able to attend with very little out of pocket!!!! If not I would be about like 100grand in the hole! Talk about answered prayers!!!!!!
So here's what I had to choose from: Start ASAP leave everyone down here and be there but have this money burden. Or I could wait put my dreams on hold (which is heart breaking :( and finish my degree here get the scholarship back and be with eveyone then I could attend with no strings attached.
Making this decision was not easy at all, I'm tearing up as I'm typing this. This means that I have to endure a school that is pretty much crap, and put up with an okay home life for now. But what really helps is to have some great friends that I can count on.
Here's a verse that I go to every time I feel down and out. Mo brought it to my attention one night at small group: Do not fret because of evildoers, Be not envious toward wrongdoers. For they will wither quickly like the grass And fade like the green herb. Trust in the LORD and do good; Dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness. Delight your self in the LORD; and He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD, Trust in Him, and He will do it. -Psalm 37:1-5
Sorry for the length... Whew that feels good!
Oh and here's a song that pretty much sums up how I feel and show that God's plan is always better:
My decision can not be put off again
I see the right choice but my heart is filled with dread
It all seems backwards in my head, my head
I know it seems too wrong to be right
This way is so much harder to fight
But in the end I know it is true
This way is better, it's better for you
Choose a little pain and gain a life with joy
Accepting pleasure now will earn a life of pain
It all seems backwards in my head, my head
I know it seems too wrong to be right
This way is so much harder to fight
But in the end I know it is true
This way is better
It's better for you, for you
Sometimes I wonder why it's this way
When it's done the burden is gone
This discomfort will be taken away
As soon as it's over, it's over for me
I know it seems too wrong to be right
This way is so much harder to fight
But in the end I know it is true
This way is better
It's better for you, for you
P.S. Colorado, here I come!!!!!!!!!

Excited about the future, I am. mmm

I'm soooooo stoked! about the next month. This weekend is Easter, and with that comes the Beach Baptisms. Can't wait to see all the people being "Dunked" at 6:32 am!!!!!. Mo, Luis, Javi, and I are heading down there at six to help set up and film some of the baptisms. then we head on back to Cooper City where we'll be participating in the half a million services that we'll be having. Meanwhile Mo has put me in charge of ensuring that all the baptisms at the different campuses will be fillmed so I'll be preoccupied with doing that.
Once that is over My good friend Pablo and I are heading straight up to Winter Park to take a tour of Full Sails film department!!! We'll also be meeting up with some others from FRC that are attending Full Sail. We'll get back on Wednesday the 26th then Thursday day off from work!!!I won't be resting Ill be getting ready for Colorado!!!
Yup, Ian, Carolina, some others and myself are flying up to Frisco, CO on the 28th. to film the first scenes of a movie that Ian is directing!!!!. This is something I've never done before and is so freaking excited about it!!!! think about it, I'll be working on a good sized production in another state where I've never been to. Oh yeah!!! We should be back by the 2nd of April. Then on the 10th, its off to Passion!!!!!!!!!!
I've been waiting for this since December. Never have I been so excited about a conference before. David Crowder, Chris Tomlin, Louie Giglio and many more are going to be there!!. Just imagine 15 college aged kids in a 15 passenger van driving up to the ATL and back. I have a feeling some really biiiiiig things are going to take place. Some, life changing.
Well, as you can see, Busy I will be.

An ACTUAL TIE Fighter!!!

Here's an interesting article describing NASA's attempt to travel to two large asteroids:
http://www.venturacountystar.com/news/2008/mar/18/star-wars-tech-now-headed-to-asteroids/
The Star Wars connection is that the craft being used to get there and study the asteroids is being propelled by 3 ion engines. (TIE fighters used twin ion engines...um hence the name) That is AWESOME!!!See below for an excerpt:
"The ion thrusters push on the spacecraft with less force than a sheet of newspaper does on your hand, he said. Here, that thrust is puny, but in space, which lacks gravity and friction, it can add up to something else.
"It takes Dawn four days to go from zero to 60 miles per hour; that doesn't exactly evoke the image of a hot rod," Rayman said with a laugh. "I call it accelerating with patience. But, over time, the effort builds up. Over the long haul, we will be able to achieve fantastically high speeds."
Try up to 25,000 mph. Ion propulsion is a much more continual thrust — five years in total for Dawn — than conventional chemical propulsion and, he added, is more than 10 times as efficient. Without it, it'd be too expensive for NASA to make the trip.
Ion propulsion, Rayman noted, has been around a long time, once only in the domain of science fiction. He first heard of it in a "Star Trek" episode. Most people know it from the "Star Wars" movies and their TIE — Twin Ion Engine — fighters.
Alluding to Dawn's three ion engines, Rayman said, "We're doing the Star Wars' TIE fighters one better," and added, "The joy of turning that from science fiction to science fact has been very exciting to me."'
